The Club

Since 1979

Founded in 1979 in the grounds of the 16th century Bright Castle, this fantastic Par 73, 18 hole golf course was designed by Arnold Ennis and has become one of the most popular courses in the area, enjoyed by a good mix of both members and visitors.

Located in the south east of Northern Ireland, to the south of the major town of Downpatrick, over the years the course has played host to a number of prestigious competitions, including the Ulster Professional Championship in the club’s inaugural year. Some of the country’s finest golfers have graced the demanding greens here including legends like Ronan Rafferty, Michael Bannon, Paul Leonard, David Feherty and Ernie Jones to name just a few. Once home to the longest hole in European golf, Bright Castle Golf Course has come from the humble beginnings of a country farm to one of the country’s most challenging and enjoyable golf courses.

Bright Castle Golf Club are full members of the Golfing Union of Ireland and offers full membership packages. Visitors and societies are also more than welcome to enjoy this inspiring 6400 yds long golf course. A round to remember is certainly on the cards!
